The History and Geography Teacher will be responsible for teaching History and Geography to learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7, preparing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons that develop students’ knowledge of people, places, cultures, societies, the environment, maps, countries, and historical events. The teacher will use interactive teaching methods, maps, visual materials, projects, discussions, and practical activities to make lessons meaningful and engaging. The teacher will assess students through classwork, assignments, quizzes, tests, and examinations, maintain accurate records of academic progress, provide additional support to learners who need assistance, manage the classroom effectively, encourage critical thinking and curiosity, and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or relevant teaching qualification in History, Geography, Social Studies, Education, or a related field, with teaching experience at the primary or junior high school level. The candidate should have strong knowledge of History and Geography, excellent communication and classroom-management skills, and the ability to explain concepts clearly and in an age-appropriate manner to learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7. The ability to use maps, visual materials, projects, discussions, and activity-based learning is highly desirable. The candidate should be patient, creative, organized, responsible, adaptable, and passionate about teaching young learners, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and create an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Requirements & Skills

The candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s degree or relevant teaching qualification in History, Geography, Social Studies, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience. The candidate must have good communication and classroom-management skills, a sound understanding of History and Geography, and the ability to teach learners effectively from Grade 1 to Grade 7. **Applicants must currently live in Tema or its surrounding areas** and be able to commute reliably to the school in Tema Community 11. The candidate must be responsible, patient, organized, and committed to providing an engaging and supportive learning environment.
