​Cultural Storytelling: Explaining the history and meaning behind specific prints (e.g., Kente, Ankara, or Adire). ​Custom Measurements: Taking accurate body measurements for bespoke or tailored orders. ​Fabric Education: Identifying various textiles like hand-woven asoke, batik, or wax prints. ​Styling Traditions: Advising on how to wrap headgear (Gele/Dhuku) or style traditional sets for events. ​Quality Control: Checking for print alignment and embroidery integrity on handmade pieces. ​Visual Merchandising: Creating vibrant displays that highlight rich colors and textures. ​Clienteling: Maintaining a database of clients for wedding seasons and festivals. ​Tailoring Liaison: Coordinating between customers and tailors for alterations. ​POS Management: Processing sales and managing custom-order deposits. ​Stock Care: Ensuring delicate beadwork and hand-dyed fabrics are stored safely.

Responsibilities

Textile Knowledge: Identifying authentic prints (Ankara, Kente, Batakari) vs. imitations. ​Measuring Accuracy: Precision in taking body measurements for custom tailoring. ​Cultural Awareness: Understanding the etiquette and symbolism of different ethnic attires. ​Styling Artistry: Mastery in tying Gele, Dhuku, or styling wrappers for clients. ​Color Theory: Ability to mix bold patterns and vibrant hues harmoniously. ​Salesmanship: Persuasive communication to explain the value of handmade items. ​Detail Oriented: Spotting flaws in embroidery or inconsistencies in hand-dyed fabrics. ​Interpersonal Skills: Building trust with clients for high-stakes events like weddings. ​Trend Tracking: Staying updated on modern "Afro-fusion" and traditional silhouettes. ​Patience: Providing high-touch service during long fittings and consultations.
